JOB DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT MANAGER
This is the job description of project manager later in this description PM. PM is responsible for the execution of the whole project.
The individual responsibilities and authorities are specific for each new project, but typically they are:
Responsibilities
Technical content of a quotation in the sales team
Customer interface
Main internal interface on project base for all the other departments
Reporting to the customer
Project execution, leading and guiding
Project plan and project budget
Risk analyzes
Guidance, estimation and follow-up of project economics and project progress
Contractual follow-up
Purchasing plan, if needed
Reservations/orders from the Operations unit
Receiving the equipment
Equipment delivery to the customer’s site
Start-up plan
Planning project closure
Project feedback (database)
Customer satisfaction survey
Lesson & learn, by sharing project experiences and knowledges
Authorities
Receiving the delivery contract from sales
Signing the documents in accordance with the contract
Making purchases and acceptance of project invoices in accordance with the agreed budget
Acceptance of phase plans
Acceptance of purchases (together with operations’ project purchasing team)
Producing additional sales quotations
Producing the +/- lists and seeking agreement with the customer
Organizing customer meetings
Arrangement of project team meetings
Transfer of project data and responsibility for customer interface to Local Sales and Service.
Required skills and knowledge
B.Sc. or B.E. degree or above (in Mechanical/Instrumentation Engineering/Chemical/Materials or Project Engineering/Management/ or relevant subjects) and minimum 8 years’ experience, preferably in relevant field.
The PM is presumed to be systematic, co-operative, and customer-oriented person. He/she must be able to manage multiple projects without losing focus on details and agreed schedules. Good communication skills and good command of written and spoken English is a must. Good skills in common MS Office tools is required.
